Skate Gravitate 365 (SG-365) is an organization with a heartfelt desire to see health improvements and a decline in obesity through a focus on skating as the ultimate fitness and fun activity for youth and adults of all ages. Sport's Physiologist, Dr. Mike Bracko, shared that research shows skating burns a lot of calories and has low impact on the joints.
OBESITY. Most people would not want this word as a describing factor for themselves nor their children. It's a word that often comes with ridicule and bullying; while delivering emotional distress and mental torture. The most vulnerable members of society? Our youth. Not only will the obese child be excessively teased by family, friends and foes for their appearance, they are at high risk of Type II Diabetes, high blood pressure and bone & joint issues, as reported kidshealth.org. According to obesityaction.org, one of the causes of childhood obesity is a lack of exercise.
Due to the lack of physical education in schools and the sedentary lifestyle children live; youth obesity has become a worldwide epidemic. SG-365's heartfelt concern is to see these oftentimes bullied youth lose weight, tone & strengthen their bodies, gain confidence and comfort in social settings. We do not wish to see anymore youths die young or hurt others because of how their body looks. This a serious concern to parents and guardians. What better way to help our youth than lacing up a pair of skates to get in shape? Children aren't going to count calories nor in general eat healthy when adults are not around. The combination of fun and fitness through skating benefits all, while toning and shedding extra weight. SG-365 invites parents and guardians to participate in activities with the child to gain hands-on experience, while having fun conjointly. We offer skate competitions, skate camps, training and mentoring programs to target obesity and maintain healthy weight levels.
Skating helps lose weight and sustain a healthy lifestyle in an enjoyable way. SG-365 believes through skating for fun or fitness, children will not only strengthen their bodies, but will develop and deliver valuable life skills that will shape their cognitive skills for the future.
